King James Version

Romans 12: 1-21

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:

5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;

8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Instructions for Godly living

Brothers. God is merciful! So therefore, I appeal to you: Give your bodies to Him as a holy-living sacrifice.

That would be acceptable to Him; it is a reasonable act of worship on your part. Don't do what "the world" tells you to do.
Instead, let God renew your mind, and let Him transform you into someone who will know His acceptable and perfect will.
And now, through the grace given to me by God, I have this to say: don't think too highly of yourself; I'm speaking to all of you.

                            1,2,3

Assess yourself sensibly, using as a guideline the "measure of faith" God has given you. The body has many members.
But, of course, not all the members have the same job to do. We're all one body in Christ. Each member is part of you;
You are part of each of the other members. Our gifts are different and according to the grace we've been given. Some are to prophesy;
Then prophesy by faith. If your gift is to minister, then minister. If your gift is teaching, that's what you should do

                             3 cont.,4,5,6,7

If your gift is to persuade and admonish others, you should exercise your gift. If it is to give. you should give generously.
If you are supposed to be in a position of leadership, lead diligently. If you're to show mercy, be merciful and cheerful to others.
If you show love to someone, let it be real and not hypocritical. Hate everything that is evil; hold on only to the good.
When you are dealing with other people, honor them above yourself. Love everyone as if they were your sisters and brothers

                             8,9,10

Don't be sluggish and lazy in your business activities. Maintain an eager spirit as you do your work for the Lord.
Rejoice in the hope you have in Christ Jesus. Be patient when trouble and sorrow comes to you. Always continue in prayer.
Contribute to the material needs of God's people, and extend hospitality to everyone. Bless those who persecute you.
Yes, bless them; do not curse them. There are some who rejoice, some who cry; whichever one they do, that's what you share

                              11,12,13,14,15

Each one of you should live in harmony with everyone else. Don't develop the mind-set that you are better than others.

In fact, be gracious to people whose situation might not be as good as yours. Don't be conceited. Don't repay any evil done to you.
In your dealings with other people, make sure your total honesty shows through. And, also, as much as it is possible,
As nearly as you can do it, live peaceably with everyone. Dearly beloved, don't avenge yourself; leave that for God's wrath to do

                              16,17,18,19

For it is written in the scriptures, "Vengeance belongs to Me; the right to repay belongs to Me, says the Lord."
And these words are also written in scripture, ·"If your enemy is hungry, give him or her bread to eat

And if you have enemies that are thirsty, be sure to give them some water to drink. If you follow these instructions,
You will heap coals of fire on their head." Always win over evil by doing good; don't let doing evil lead you to defeat
